cleared and the smack talk was over team P.C.P. was anounced the winner useing 6 judges and a blind box format so nobody could say I rigged it.Even tho it wasn't an official sancioned event it was the best time I have
had in a really long time. It was a lot of work planning, preping and organizing the event but in the end it was worth it. I hope to make it
bigger and better next year. Thanks Bill for the videos you provide, showing how to do turn in boxes and and evrything else. I learn better by seeing what to do rather than reading it. Remember KEEP ON SMOKIN
- Hi Bill, wanted to let you know how we did on the 4th of July at a local contest. It wasn't a KCBS sanctioned contest our set up like your
normal contest would be, but it had the same blind judging and turn in containers. they had 3 categories, beef, pork and chicken. only
difference was you could smoke and turn in ANYTHING in those 3 categories PLUS they didn't have to cook on site. They allowed
wood, pellets charcoal and propane. Turn in was 2pm for all 3. For there first year of a contest it wasn't bad. They had 15 entries we
were vending the 4th of July blow out as well PLUS cooking the contest on site on our Peoria 24x72 pit (this was our 2nd cook on it..).
We took first in chicken, I did chicken thighs, 1st in Beef, I turned in Brisket and were Grand Champion over all. Won some trophies, a
new Traeger Tail gator, BBQ supplies and tools plus our name is the first on the plaque of annual winners for this contest. They will be
looking at having this become a KCBS contest with a amateur contest as well. But with all the above odds and the uniqueness of this
contest I was pretty excited to take two of the three categories and come out with a GC !! Our next contest will be Dillon Colorado the
2nd weekend in August. Last year we were 4th over all out of 72 teams! See what we can do this year!-- Chuck Marting www.bossmanbbq.com
